Finals Week

As I sent the last kid off to school on the final day of the semester it was interesting to note the differences in ages and stages of life.  

A text I sent to Nathan after noting this....

"oh what a difference in ages/stages.  Sent Sadie off stressed to the max and sent Elijah off elated that he gets to have a party and wear his pajamas.  Poor Sadie." 

Nathan's reply:

"she is probably missing elementary school today" 

I don't doubt it.  Its tough being a busy teen especially when its finals week.  

On a happy note these people of ours are super neat and we would do anything for them.   

Day off of School

Our MLK day off of school was productive.  Sadie had a few girls from her basketball team over.  Josiah and Jarom also had some friends over.   I fed the girls cinnamon rolls in the morning.  Sadie and I were thinking they could be done by noonish.  Not so.  They boys came in the early afternoon with the idea that the girls would be gone.  Not so.  The girls stayed inside working on posters and locker decor while the boys spent most of them time outside.  In the end I ended up feeding all of these kids homemade pizza for dinner.  It was a fun day for everyone I think.  

The boys had a great battle with their air soft guns until they were getting welts even with full coverage of clothing.  Then they moved to the trampoline for some time.  Once that got old they came into the house and started a 3D print for one of the boys.  I suggested they go play basketball which one of the promptly took off with the others following.   

Meanwhile Sadie with a few of the basketball players made some senior night posters.  They started working on these at 10 that morning and didn't finish till about 4.  As they were finishing the boys decided to play basketball so Sadie suggested that the girls go play the boys.  It was a good break for them.  

The finished posters and locker decor.  These ladies were awesome to send the time putting these together.  Sadie was asked to head up senior night this Friday nights game.  She has done a great job along with the help of a few others.  

 It was so fun and satisfying that these kids had the option to play basketball.   It was a scrappy game but they sure had fun.  I am happy to announce that none of them fell into our window wells.  This is a danger playing basketball till we take measures.  

YW service opportunity

We have an older lady who moved into our ward late fall last year.   She is s spunky gal for being 86.   She was a chef in her younger years.   We invited her over to our house to get to know our young women and teach them a few things about cooking.   She had the best time with our young women and wants to come back again.  I am so glad we planned this night with her.  I told the young women they are celebrities at her place of residence.  She has talked nonstop about them.  

Priesthood ordinations

This weekend 1/13/19 was a big one for these two boys.   I have been failing my blog by not taking pictures.  I came across this one that fits their personalities perfect.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints made some changes in the time when young men received the priesthood.  It's not doctrinal changes just changes that will help these young men grow.  The can advance in the priesthood in January of their 12th, 14th, and 16th years instead of waiting for their actual birthday.  Jarom was ordained a deacon.  He is the first youngest deacon ever in our ward.  I think he was most excited to get out of primary a few months early.  Josiah was ordained a teacher.  He was the first youngest teacher to be ordained in our ward.  This is exciting changes.  

This also means Josiah was able to attend the stake dance last weekend 1/19/19.  He was so excited to go and had so much fun.  He hangs out with a great group of boys who challenged each other to ask girls to dance.  He asked five girls.  He is already making plans to ask even more girls the next dance.  Who wouldn't want to dance with that boy in the blue pajama bottoms with a striped black and white shirt?  Ha ha.  

We had Nathan's parents here that weekend of the ordinations.  It was so fun to have them.  We explored a state park with a view of the Olympic mountains on that Saturday. 

James and Marjorie left after church and later that day we went to explore another park with a view of Mt Rainier.   This place has the best skipping rocks.  We live a beautiful area.

Hair

Sadie convinced me a year ago to grow my hair out.  I have done it and continue to.  I have a love hate relationship with this mop.  I am going so grey its not even funny so yes I am vain and get it colored.  It takes way longer to style.  It is always in my face.  However I will admit that I am liking the looks.  Here's to more growing.  

Sadie's Birthday

This super awesome beautiful young lady turned 16.   How in the world did that happen?  Sadie is impressive in many ways.  She has been playing the organ in our church meetings.  She wakes up every morning at 5ish maybe closer to 5:30 to go to seminary by 6.  She plays basketball.  She lives the gospel.   She is a great friend and confident which I think are some of the best qualities.  

New Year's Eve

We spent a lot of time indoors so it was time to go outside since the weather was nice.  We played a bit of baseball and football.  

We also had our traditional seafood feast that night.  I am totally horrible about taking pictures lately.  I don't have anything else for that night.
