Nathan and Leslie back packing trip

Nathan and I were able to go on our own back packing trip.  Nathan has wanted to get up to the Mildred Lakes area for a long time.  He had 2 other attempts but couldn't make it because of snow.  The third time is a charm I guess.  This trail is not for the faint of heart.  It is not easy and you can get lost if you aren't paying attention.  Most of it is just up and I mean straight up.

It was a bit cloudy but we could still get some good views of mountains around us.

Nathan checking to see where we are on the map.

We stayed at the first lake we came to since it was getting dark.  It was a neat lake.

I love this photo.  This is a prime example of what not to do with your food.  There is a small white bag hung up next to the tent.

Another lake to view in the next morning.

We saw this on the way in and it was still sitting there on the way back the next day.  We aren't sure how long those items have been there but it seemed like its been awhile.  Nathan scored a nice cast iron pan from one of the lakes we visited.

There was some good par core workout going on.  This was a really fun trip to take with Nathan.  I sure love hanging out with this guy.  What a blessing he is to me and our kids.

Long Beach

This was one of the most relaxing family trips I have ever been on.  The mountains and the beach are my places to be.  The boys loved using the boogie boards to skiff on the water.  Building sand castles is always a must.

This is shortly after we arrived and I think Jarom was wondering what he was going to do while we were there.

I sure like this handsome guy.

We had to get a picture of Josiah in front of this sign since he is known as the candy man at school.

This was taken to send to cousin Camille.

They weren't impressed with biggest frying pan,

We didn't know it till we got there but a kite festival was going and it was fun to see the variety.

Beach time was the best.

We rode go carts too!

The trail to the beach from out motel.

Jarom's toe got hit by a shovel when Josiah was trying to cover him up.  It was sore for a few days.

The world's biggest ice cream cones.

Horse riding was the very last thing they did.

We did visit a lighthouse before heading back home.

New backpacking area

We found some new country to back pack into.  It was fun to explore but man the mosquitos were bad so our trip didn't last as long as we had planned.  We might have been a little wimpy.  The strangest part of the trip was that we could see I-90 from below the trail.

Toes

My big toe is never going to heal up I don't think.  The other toe is curtesy of running a marathon.  I know they are beautiful, you are welcome.

The Betta and The fish tank

We have had these big jars like forever and really haven't done anything with them except put change in one.  Well while Josiah was here...
