Spring trip to Oregon

We were able to get away to Oregon for Memorial day weekend. It is always fun to be in Haines.

Young me bike ride

This bike ride up near Snoqualmie is a yearly occurrence.  I was planning to be on this one but there weren't enough seats for me to go.  I wasn't going to ride but wanted to help Nathan with the transferring of cars.  These young men are simply awesome.

middle school cross country

Our middle schools here have opposite schedules for sports.  Cross country is in Spring.  This was perfect timing for Elijah since he just finished his basketball season.   He was in pretty good shape.  His main drive for running was that his friends were doing it.  He didn't care how fast he was but just wanted to hang out with his buddies.

This group of boys are one of the best.

16th birthday

Jarom is official to drive, finally.  It seems like he had his permit for a really long time.  Unfortunately he felt terrible on his birthday so nothing seemed to exciting for him.
He had friends come decorate his room but he was not pleased with that and immediately torn everything down.

Doesn't he look thrilled to be 16 and had just gotten his license a few hours earlier.  Poor guy!

This present did cheer him up a bit more than the others.  He has wanted to mess around with a riding lawn mower for a while now and we found a cheap one.   We will see what he comes up with.  He would really like to race mowers but there doesn't seem to be much interest around here.

Canada

Nathan's dad mentioned that he would like to go with Marjorie to Canada to see the Butchart Garden's.  We decided that all of us should go, so we did.   It was a fun few days.  We rode the ferry over to Victoria from Port Angles.  This ferry isn't like the ferries we ride to Seattle.  It's a bit rougher waters to travel.  It was fun to stand out on the front of ferry and feel the waves.

I am glad we took the time to go on this trip with Nathan's parents.  I really enjoyed having them and it was a great little get away for our family.

I really liked the gardens.  It was a bit wet out so it made it kind of chilly.  The flowers were wonderful.

Elijah had had it at one point.  I think he needed to eat and then he was fine.

Jarom is thrilled to be there.

I think all of of the boys were ready to be done.  Flowers aren't their thing.

We were also able to go on the Malahat Skywalk.  I loved being up their to see the fjord.

The Betta and The fish tank

We have had these big jars like forever and really haven't done anything with them except put change in one.  Well while Josiah was here...
